Fresh fruit and vegetables delivered to your children every few weeks, free of charge! Wow!
Yep, you read that correctly. Your child gets a healthy snack 13 times a year – and you don’t have to lift a finger. The BC Fruit and Vegetable Nutritional Program delivers boxes of seasonal fruit or vegetables to our school, which are then portioned out and delivered to classes by parent volunteers.
While students are happily munching, teachers talk about the nutritional benefits of eating fruits and vegetables and consuming locally grown produce. We all know how much more receptive children are to trying new things if they see their friends and teachers eating them too! Many a student has come home and amazed their parents by asking for a red pepper or some fresh peas, when before they wouldn’t touch anything more exotic than an apple.

Helping out takes about an hour every three weeks. Volunteers must first complete a Food Safe Course, either online or in person (and the PAC will pay the course fee). If you are interested in helping out, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
