BTSW 2015

132 kids biked to school on Day 1; almost 40% of the entire school.

LVE students showed that a little drizzle didn’t dampen their cycling enthusiasm. Kids came out in droves to enjoy the delicious kick-off energy snack provided by Hippie Foods, FreeYumm and Nourish Market. Delicious granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, granola bars and beverages were handed out to smiling riders. Student and parent bikers got rewarded with stickers and earned an entry into the Grand Prize draw being held Friday.

Wheels were Spinning on Day 2

Lots of excitement before school yesterday morning! The handy bike mechanics from Lynn Valley Bikes were at school to do bike and helmet safety checks so there will be less squeaky bikes and safer riders out there now!

Students also had the chance to spin the prize wheel for giveaways from PNE Playland, Rocky Mountain Bikes, Booster Juice, Vancity and Lynn Valley Bikes. gazeboLSCRThe wheel was a huge hit and made every child feel like a game show contestant. Thank you to Lynn Valley Save-On for lending us their prize wheel.

All in all, another fabulous morning that brought out 180 kids on bikes! Way to go Lynn Valley riders.

If your family is looking for an active, healthy family outing, be sure to join us for the Family Meet Up Ride at the gazebo in Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve TONIGHT (WEDNESDAY) at 6:30 pm.

So many smiling bikers

Wednesday was the midway point of BTSW and 180 students came to school on bikes. What a great turnout.

In the morning, kids had the chance to answer bike trivia questions and earn another entry into the grand prize draw being held Friday.

The excitement continued as LVE families came out to recreate together at the Evening Meet up Ride. There were thrills, some spills and ice-cream treats at the end of a very enjoyable family ride through the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve. If you missed out this year, be sure to join us next!

Tomorrow will feature the Grand Prize draws for BTSW. Many great prizes for students and even a few for the parents who rode.

Keep up the Momentum For Day 4!

BTSW finished with a flourish.

LVE consistently had half the school arrive on bikes! It would be great to see those bike racks continue to be filled during June.

On Thursday, the very popular Prize Wheel was brought out again and kids and parents were also able to get their bikes safety checked by Lynn Valley Bikes. After school, students came together to decorate their bikes in red, black and white for the Lynn Valley Day Parade.

Bright and early Friday morning, the BTSW Organizers drew the names of 25 lucky grand prize winners. Prizes included bike helmets, bike lights, riding socks and a bike lock. All winners have been notified and the list of winners has been posted on the school’s whiteboard.

The final tally of which class had the most active transportation was also tabulated and one class from both the Primary and Intermediate Divisions was awarded a class-wide prize.

This year, those two classes were the Grade 4/5’s of Division 6 and the Grade 1/2’s of Division 10. Each student won a new Vancity bike light for their rides and can take a spin over to the Lynn Valley Dairy Queen for a complimentary ice-cream.

A huge thank you to the LVE school community for embracing this event and increasing their active transportation.

The LVPAC BTSW organizers would also like to thank:
