New BC Societies Act

Dear LVPAC Members,

On November 28, 2016, a new BC Societies Act came into force.  We will transition to the new Act at our AGM on May 11, 2017.  As part of the transition, we are required to make some changes to our Constitution and Bylaws.  Below is a brief summary of those changes:

·         The Constitution will only include our name and purposes, all other clauses move to the bylaws.  Therefore, our dissolution clause must move to the bylaws as part of the transition.

·         No more unalterable provisions.  Our original dissolution clause will now be marked as ‘previously unalterable’.

A ‘notice of motion’ contains proposals for additional changes to our Constitution and Bylaws.  These are minor changes to correct wording and to align with the new Act.

For full information on all the changes, please refer to the BC Societies Act website. You can also email us if you have any questions.
